A medical staff at the University of Menoufia hospitals succeeded in saving a 18 -year -old girl, after she was subjected to severe suffocation as a result of a veil pin swallowing, as he settled in the airways of the right lung.

Under the supervision of Dr. Mohamed Fahmy Al -Numani, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals, the patient came to the emergency department while she was suffering from severe chest pain and continuous cough and shortness of breathing, and immediately, the necessary medical and radiological examinations were conducted, which revealed the presence of a metal pin inside the airways, in addition to another pin in the abdomen.

The medical team, headed by Dr. Ahmed Amer Khamis, a professor of chest diseases, decided to enter the patient to the operating room, where a flexible popular endoscope was conducted under anesthesia, and the pin was successfully extracted with the accurate follow -up of the situation until its stability.
And participated in the operation from the Department of Chest Diseases: Dr. Rabab Al -Wahsh, Dr. Maha Youssef, Dr. Amal Al -Koua, Dr. Marwa Sharaf, Dr. Mustafa Osama, from the Department of Ear, Ear and Throat Dr. Yasser Khalil, and from the anesthesia department Dr. Mervat Al -Maghrabi, in addition to the nursing staff Mahmoud Ramadan, Nuran Abu Sharif, and Habiba Hisham.
The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine confirmed that the patient was discharged from the operation in a stable condition, and she received medical care until she recovered a full recovery and was discharged from the hospital in good health.
