Al -Ghawab team, Abdullah Khalifa, renewed its victory in the run of His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa for the “Al -Hir” competition (Extracting the oysters), which was held on Friday morning in the “Her Shetia” naval area, amid a wide participation of dive -fans and heritage marine sports.
The Al -Ma’idah team won an extension of its previous achievement when it won the run of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa last week, to confirm its worth by preserving the summit with a weight of 14.5 grams.
The diver team, Jabr Ali Al -Muddhaka, achieved a prominent achievement by its rise from fourth place last week to the top of the ranking after he scored a weight of 10.04 grams, while the diver Abdullah Khalifa Al -Haddi continued the challenge journey, starting from fifth to third with a weight of 9.578 grams of pearls.
The “Hir” competition (oyster extract) comes within the eighth and largest edition of the Nasser bin Hamad season for marine heritage sports, which comes annually organized by the Bahraini Committee for Folklore Sports.
The half witnessed a competitive atmosphere that embodied the Bahrainis’ association with their popular heritage, as the participating teams competed to extract the oysters from the depths of the sea in the Hair Shtayyah Naval area, in a revival of diving heritage and the search for pearls that formed one of the pillars of the Bahraini economy in the past.
The organizing committee of the Nasser bin Hamad season for marine heritage sports continues to hold the heritage event related to the sea, through which it seeks to preserve the national identity and highlight the originality of Bahrain in its historical relationship with the sea, by reviving one of the oldest sports related to the life of parents and grandparents.
The season, which started last July until mid -November, will continue, including various other competitions that include beside the “Her” and swimming competition in the open waters that ended its activities, popular rowing races, the fishing competition (Al -Hadqat), and the self -concert, in addition to a new event held for the first time under the name “Al -Nahham”, a competition in which brothers from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries will participate.
