The Minister of the Interior: “Health Cities” contributes to achieving the goals of sustainable development and enhancing the national march

The Minister of Interior received Lieutenant General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, yesterday morning, President of the Supreme Council of Health, General Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Health Dr. Jalila El -Sayed, on the occasion of the receipt of the certificate of accreditation of the World Health Organization, to the governorates of Muharraq and Al -North, a “health province”.

On this occasion, the Minister of the Interior expressed my sincere congratulations to the Muharraq and Northern governorates for this national achievement, expressing his thanks and appreciation to all members of the two governorates for their sincere efforts that resulted in making each governorate an integrated health province.

The Minister of Interior pointed out that the implementation of the health cities project contributes to achieving the goals and requirements of sustainable development, and moving forward in strengthening the comprehensive national march led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the king of the country, and with the support and follow -up of the esteemed government headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The Minister of the Interior stressed the importance of this achievement in improving the quality of life and activating the principle of community partnership to achieve public health goals, directing the southern governorate to continue its procedures, within the global program for health cities, and obtaining international accreditation, in preparation for the announcement of the accreditation of all governorates of Bahrain, health governorates.

The Minister of Interior, Lieutenant General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Ministry of Health for its partnership and role in achieving this international accreditation, praising the development initiatives and projects launched by the two governorates and worked to implement them in cooperation and coordination with the relevant authorities, and in a way that contributes to enhancing communication with citizens and meeting their needs, wishing everyone success in serving the country.

The northern governorate had fulfilled the accreditation criteria according to the evaluation visit of the World Health Organization in November 2024, while Muharraq Governorate has fulfilled accreditation criteria in accordance with the evaluation visit in February 2025. The health cities program is an international framework to improve health, environmental, economic and social aspects through an effective partnership between the Ministry of Health, Governorates and the local community and in coordination with the relevant authorities. The program, which aims to enhance societal awareness, contains 80 standards that include several axes, including the organization of society and its packing for health, development and partnerships between sectors, water axis, food safety and health development, in addition to preparing for emergency, education and others.

The meeting was attended by Community Affairs Adviser at the Ministry of Interior, Ali Al -Asfour, and the regional director of the World Health Organization of the eastern Mediterranean region. Hanan Belki.
