Dr. Badr Abdel -Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Affairs of Egyptians abroad, received a phone call from David Lami, UK Foreign Minister, today, Friday, where the contact dealt with ways to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries, and the efforts made to reach a ceasefire agreement and humanitarian aid to the sector.
During the communication, Abdel -Ati praised the remarkable development in Egyptian -British relations during the recent period and working to raise bilateral relations to the strategic partnership, stressing the keenness to benefit from the momentum witnessed by bilateral relations to enhance joint cooperation in various fields, foremost of which is supporting economic, commercial and investment cooperation.

Abdel -Ati stressed the need for the international community to address irresponsible and unacceptable Israeli policies and statements that warn of the expansion of the circle of violence and escalation in the region, stressing that these recent practices and statements violate international law and all international norms, at a time when regional and international partners are making unremitting efforts to stop the brutal Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the enforcement of humanitarian aid without conditions.
In this context, the Minister of Foreign Affairs welcomed the announcement of a number of Western countries, including the United Kingdom, its intention or intention to think about recognizing the Palestinian state on the sidelines of the regular session of the United Nations General Assembly next September, noting that expanding the path of recognition of the independent Palestinian state on the lines of June 4, 1967 with its capital, East Jerusalem, is the only path to achieve security and stability for all the peoples of the region. Minister Abdel -Ati listened to his British counterpart’s estimates regarding the issue of recognition and its repercussions.
The Foreign Minister briefed his British counterpart on the efforts made to enforce humanitarian aid to Gaza in light of the catastrophic humanitarian conditions, noting that the international community should exercise pressure to end the policy of starvation against innocent civilians, reviewing in this context the ongoing arrangements to host the early recovery and reconstruction conference in cooperation with the Palestinian government and the United Nations as soon as the ceasefire. The British minister expressed their appreciation and support for the Egyptian efforts in this regard.
