The Egyptian Interior accuses several celebrities of laundering and hiding money by buying property

The Economic Affairs Prosecution and money laundering in Egypt began its investigations with 10 accused, including 8 imprisoned and 3 relevant, against the backdrop of accusations of achieving illegal profits by broadcasting the abusive clips of public modesty through the “Tech Talk” platform. This came after the prosecution’s decision to imprison 8 reserve accused, and release two financial guarantees, with all the accused on the lists of traveling and the anticipation of arrival, in addition to preventing the disposal of the funds.

Technical devices and evidence under examination

Investigations included the seizure of electronic devices used to create and manage accounts on “Tek Tok” and other applications, followed by thousands of young users, and broadcast content that includes expressive phrases and words of modesty representing a prejudice to social values, with the aim of achieving material observations and profits. Some defendants were also seized in the possession of narcotic drugs and unlicensed firearms, and the seizures were sent for technical examination, while the prosecution will complete the investigation procedures.

The Ministry of the Interior takes firm measures against “downs”

The Egyptian Ministry of Interior announced that legal measures are taken against the content maker “Mohamed K” known as “Daham” in Qaliubiya Governorate, after accusing him of washing money estimated at 65 million pounds, obtained from his criminal activity in promoting videos offending societal values and principles. The ministry explained that the accused tried to hide these funds by buying housing units, cars and motorcycles and establishing companies to give a legal character on them.

Reports and warning of the impact of the content on young people

Investigations came based on multiple reports of citizens and specialized parties regarding visual content on “Tek Tok” that includes violations of public morals and violation of family values, and these facts increased, according to what the Public Prosecution monitored. And it warned of the seriousness of this content on children and youth, because of its threat to their psychological safety and an impact on their behavior.

Prosecution: Do not neglect with the violated content

The Egyptian Public Prosecution affirmed that it will not tolerate any content that would scratch modesty or harm to moral morals and values, and will continue to take the necessary legal measures to deter such phenomena.
