The Turkish capital, at the beginning of this August, witnessed the removal of the first joint production sample within a Syrian -Turkish industrial project, in the presence of the Syrian Minister of Economy and Industry in the new government, Nidal Al -Shaar, and the Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology, Mohamed Fateh Kajer, in the MEXT factory, one of the most prominent technology and innovation centers in the city’s industrial zone.
A step towards a strategic partnership
The Syrian minister described the project as “a first step towards a broader strategic partnership in the areas of smart manufacturing and digital transformation,” stressing Damascus’s desire to benefit from the advanced Turkish experience in this field, within the framework of enhancing economic integration and exchanging experiences between the two countries.
A common industrial vision for the future of Syria
During the visit, the Syrian delegation participated in an expanded presentation in the first industrial zone in Ankara, in which Turkish officials presented a strategic perception of industrial cooperation, which included the reconstruction of the industrial infrastructure in Syria and the application of the concepts of digital transformation and smart manufacturing, by benefiting from Turkish experiences.
A high -level government delegation
The Syrian delegation included Deputy Minister of Economy Basil Abdel Hanan, Deputy Minister of Transport, officials from the Ministry of Energy, heads of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, representatives of the Syrian -Turkish Business Council and the Ministry of Economy. The visit included Ankara and Istanbul, where meetings were held with the Ministries of Industry and Trade, organized industrial areas, and economic councils such as the Council of Foreign Economic Relations, the Turkish Exporters Council, and businessmen “Musayad” and “Askun”.
Signature of 14 cooperation protocols
The visit resulted in the signing of 14 cooperation protocols that included industry, energy, transportation and digital transformation, in addition to plans to support the infrastructure of industrial areas in Syria in Turkish expertise. The two sides agreed to open a new technical center in Syria in cooperation with the “Mix” Foundation to transfer the experience of industrial digital transformation, develop productive capabilities and raise efficiency.
Communication with the Syrian community in Türkiye
At the end of the visit, the Syrian -Turkish Business Council organized an expanded meeting with the Syrian community in Istanbul, in which hundreds of businessmen, professionals and academics participated, with the aim of discussing ways of cooperation and involving expatriates in the reconstruction efforts. Minister Al -Shaar stressed that the human element remains the main pillar of any economic project, noting that Syria is looking for a growth stage that depends on activating national capabilities inside and outside the country.
