The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan hosted a Jordanian -Syrian joint meeting to discuss the situation in Syria and ways to support the reconstruction process on the foundations that guarantee its security, stability and territorial integrity and not to interfere in its internal affairs, in a way that meets the aspirations of the Syrian people and preserves their rights.
The Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayman Al -Safadi, the Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Asaad Al -Shaibani, and the American Special Envoy for Syria, Thomas Barak, participated in the meeting, in addition to representatives of Turkey and the international institutions, as part of a follow -up to the “Confirmation of the Calipment” meeting in the Suwayda Governorate held on July 19, 2025.
The obligations of the Syrian government
Jordan and the United States welcomed the Syrian government’s obligations, including:

Conducting comprehensive investigations and accounting for perpetrators of crimes and violations in As -Suwayda, and cooperation with United Nations bodies.

Increasing the entry of humanitarian aid and enhancing its flow in cooperation with the United Nations agencies.

Activating service institutions to restore suspended services.

The start of the damaged infrastructure rehabilitation.

Encouraging the return of the displaced and supporting the government’s efforts in this.

Enhancing civil peace through community reconciliation projects.
Emphasizing the support of the international community
The statement stressed the importance of the international community’s contributions in supporting the efforts of the Syrian government to achieve security and stability, ensure the rights of all citizens, and to create a safe environment for reconstruction.
Agreement on future steps
The parties agreed to hold another meeting in the coming weeks to complete the talks, in addition to forming a triple working group (Syria, Jordanian, American) to follow up efforts in As -Suwayda and end the crisis.
