The National Railways Authority of Egypt issued a press release to respond to a circulating video claiming to prevent a passenger from the independence of the train due to the wearing of “shorts”.
The commission explained that the truth is completely different, from what was circulated.
Details of the incident according to the authority’s statement
The authority confirmed that the incident occurred on the train No. 945 heading to Port Said. According to the statement, one of the citizens, accompanied by a lady, asked to travel with the same tickets for another train after they missed their journey, and the trainer agreed to their request.
But after the train independently, the passenger put a “curtain” fabric on the luggage shelf to block the vision of the rest of the passengers, under the pretext of privacy. When the supervisor asked him to remove the curtain and adhere to the passenger instructions, the passenger deliberately photographed the incident and published a fragmented video on social media.
An official investigation and confirmation of the commitment of the commission
The authority indicated that it had started an investigation into the incident and referred it to the judicial authorities to take the necessary legal measures. The commission stressed the incorrectness of any passenger from the independence of the train because of his clothes, and stressed the commitment of all workers to the regulations and instructions. The authority also called on the media to investigate accuracy and verify information from its official sources before its publication, and appealed to the citizens to adhere to societal values during the use of public transport.
