The health and fitness trainer and member of the Friends of Health Association, Dr. Saad Al -Thawadi, “We live in the hot summer months, in which it requires dealing with the intensity of heat with caution and taking into account several things, in order to avoid exposure to health problems that may affect health in general, especially for those who practice sports activities of all kinds.”

D. Al -Thawadi is the necessity of identifying the negative effects related to exercising in the hot summer months, in addition to knowing what must be taken into account when starting to practice various exercise, i.e. following safety guidelines ».

He pointed out that «as it is recognized that the summer months in which temperatures rise to record levels, in which the temperature may reach very high degrees that may reach 45 degrees, or to above 50 degrees, which are undoubtedly high temperature, which is usually accompanied by an increase in humidity as well, which may reach 90% and above.

He added that this “constitutes a negative impact on outdoor exercise practitioners, which is the increase in the internal body temperature and the exposure of the internal systems of the body to high levels of heat, and thus the difficulty of adapting to the external heat of the body as a result of doing these exercise that is practiced in the open air.”

He explained that «dehydration of the body occurs as a result of the severe sweat caused by the exercise of these exercises, due to the loss of large amounts of fluid in the body through sweating, and as a result of the dehydration resulting from the loss of quantities of body fluids, this may result in muscle spasms as a result of a disorder in the balance of salts and fluids in the body.

He stressed that «one of the negatives of exercising in the very heat atmosphere, especially abroad, is exposure to the incendiary sunlight that can cause sunstroke or heat exhaustion of the practitioner, and it is undoubtedly a great danger to the practicing individual. In order to avoid problems that can be produced as a result of exercise. ”D. Al -Thawadi that “it is preferable to exercise in the summer in the closed halls or practice it outside at sunset or evening, where the heat is somewhat moderate, and it is preferable to verify the external temperature by monitoring weather conditions before starting to practice sports activities.”

He pointed out that «the summer months extend to many months, that is, about six months, so it is preferable to choose the appropriate activities for the summer, that is, activities that through their performance can avoid heat and high humidity.

He advised to “put sunscreen on all parts of the body and wear a sunscreen if sport is practiced during the day and in light of the high temperature.”

He stressed that “it is preferable to choose the appropriate time to practice sports activities, depending on the type of exercise, as some sports have specific times a day, it is preferable to consider it as possible.”

He stressed the importance of “wearing light and loose clothes, preferably light color, in order to reflect the direct sunlight located on the body when exercising externally, where light colors help protect the body from exposure to radiation directly.”

He pointed out that «many individuals prefer in the summer to exercise walking or running outdoors, so it is important to carry a bottle of water while carrying a towel in order to dry and cool the body from the extra heat resulting from exercise.

He recommended that «when feeling high heat and extreme humidity during sports activities, it is preferable to stop practicing sports activities immediately, especially those practiced in the open air and in broad daylight, and it is possible to sit in a place where a shadow and take a break and eat water and fluids before starting again in the practice of activity while making sure of the physical condition of the practitioner.”

He warned that «should be paid attention to good nutrition before and after starting to practice sports activities, whether in closed or open places, by eating certain fruits rich in water such as watermelon, cucumber, orange, lemon and other citrus.”

He stressed that «after completing the practice of sports activities, the practitioner must drink sufficient quantities of fluids, and perhaps the best of them is water, so that what has been lost from the body fluids during sweating and during the practicing sports activity.
