A really strange time, in which slogans fluctuate, and the speech becomes just words without contents, and very few who are keen to associate words with deeds.
For example, when talking about humanity, and from the reality of views in what the world is witnessing in several parts, it imagines you as if talking about humanity has turned into an “intellectual luxury” no more.
The painful that our world today is almost turns into a huge machine, whose gears revolve without stopping, governed by the obsession of material gains and practical achievements, until the person himself has become part of this gears, performing his role coldly, and goes without feeling, as if he lost the compass of mercy that distinguishes him from everything else.
What we miss is not the ability to achieve or creativity, but rather the ability to stop a moment and think, because what we do really reflect our humanity?! Do we seek a success that does not leave victims behind him?! Do we rise to others while we rise ourselves?! Life without humanity, no matter how decorated with successes, is a dry, empty life.
Yesterday the world celebrated the International Day of Humanity, but the truth is that humanity is not shortened in a day, and it should not be merely an occasion in which we attach slogans, and we take memorial photos. Humanity is not an event that is celebrated, but rather a rooted behavior that accompanies us at every moment, and it appears in every situation, no matter how simple, whether in a good word, or in oppressed fairness, or in rejecting injustice, or extending a helping hand to those who need it.
Humanity does not know discrimination. It is not exclusive to sex, race, religion, or social class. It is the inclusive principle that connects all human beings, and it is the real exam that reveals our mineral when we are tested in difficult situations. Do we allow injustice to pass silently?! Do we turn a blind eye to the suffering of others because they are “far” from us?! Or do we realize that the human wound, whatever its location, belongs to all of us?!
The greatest danger is not in the absence of slogans, but in the gap between slogans and deeds. How many leaders, institutions, and even individuals, raise the banner of humanity in their speech, while their daily practices scream otherwise. Marginalization, exploitation, igniting wars, and spreading fear and chaos. Here the masks fall, and the truth appears. Humanity is not words, but a test for deeds.
Returning to humanity is not a secondary option or moral welfare, but rather an existential necessity. The world that loses its humanity, whatever technology or economically, is a world that is moving steadily towards an abyss of cruelty and alienation.
The greatest achievement that we can achieve is not measured by the number of projects or the size of profits, but rather the extent of our ability to do a truly human. To keep our hearts alive, and our actions are a witness to our humanity, every day, and every moment.
