During an electoral tour on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, Argentine President Javier Millie was attacked with stones, bottles and plant branches of demonstrators in the city of Lomas de Zamora, a traditional stronghold of the Peronic opposition. A corruption scandal affects the president and his sister
The Milli crisis was caught after the press published audio recordings that involved the president and his sister, Karina, Secretary -General of the Presidency, in the case of embezzling public funds through the Affairs Affairs of Disabilities (Andis). Records attributed to Diego Spanioo, former director of the agency and a member of the legal team of Melly, reveals bribes from pharmaceutical companies for government contracts.

The recordings indicated the role of Eduardo “Lolli”, the assistant of Kareena Mili and the cousin of the current parliament, as the axis of the corruption network. It was also claimed that Karina received 3% of the value of the drug purchase contracts through the company “Swizo Argentina”, while a businesswoman close to the Minim family was accused of monopolizing huge monthly profits.
Opening an investigation and financial confiscations
As a result of the scandal, the Public Prosecution has opened an official investigation, which included searches and confiscating cash amounts exceeding 266 thousand dollars and 7 million peso. The phones of the defendants were also confiscated to compare the records with real networks, but the investigation has not yet found direct talks with the president or his sister.
Official denial
Millie denied all the accusations and considered that the recordings are “lies”, vowing to prosecute Spaniolo. The Minim family also denied any relationship with the issue, considering that the matter was a “political maneuver” before the upcoming legislative elections. The company “Swizo Argentina”, for its part, issued a statement confirming the safety of its dealings.
A crisis that goes beyond corruption
The scandal comes at a sensitive time when the file of people with disabilities in Argentina witnesses widespread controversy. Millie had used the veto against laws aimed at supporting the elderly and people with disabilities, which sparked widespread anger in Parliament. Earlier in the year, he was involved in a digital currency promotion scandal that later collapsed and experts considered it an explicit “fraud”.
A fateful election entitlement
The current crisis represents a very difficult test for President Millie, who will face the first half -elections since he took over in 2023.
