For twenty -four years since the establishment of the Supreme Council for Women, Her Royal Highness Princess Sabika bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the wife of His Majesty the Great King, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Women, has emerged as one of the most prominent national symbols that devoted her efforts to empower Bahraini women and enhance their presence in various fields.
Since the start of the council in 2001, His Highness Princess Sabika has been present with a clear strategic thought, and a firm belief in the importance of the role of women as an effective partner in national development. The establishment of the council came as an advanced initiative that reflects the comprehensive vision of His Majesty King Hamad
Bin Issa Al Khalifa, the king of the country, may God protect and preserve him, who sought to provide an institutional framework that enhances the contribution of women to public affairs, and gives them effective empowerment tools.
This pioneering decision preceded Bahrain, a constitutional kingdom, in a clear indication of the priority of the women’s file in the modernization and reform project. The establishment of the council formed a starting point for a new stage of institutional empowerment, which opened an unprecedented horizons for women to take over leadership sites, and to participate in formulating the future of the country.
Through conscious leadership and continuous royal support, His Highness Princess Sabika has launched a series of initiatives and policies that contributed to raising the efficiency of Bahraini women, and enabled her to reach ministerial, legislative and judicial positions, as well as achieving specific achievements in the fields of economics, education, scientific research, sports and arts. These successes have had a regional and international resonance, which was crowned with prominent prizes that reflect the position of Bahrain and the outcomes of its policies that support women.
What distinguishes the approach of His Highness Princess Sabika is to focus on justice in gender opportunities, and to make sure to integrate women’s needs in public policies, by strengthening the Bahrain site as an advanced example of empowering women at the Arab level.
In light of the launch of the national plan for the advancement of Bahraini women for the years 2025-2026, Princess Sabika confirms her commitment to continuing this path, with a focus on moving from the stage of empowerment to leadership, by supporting innovation and enhancing women’s contribution to the digital economy and future sectors.
While we are approaching the celebration of the silver jubilee of the founding of the council, Bahrainis have the right to be proud of the achievements achieved by the women of the homeland. Princess Sabika has established an active leadership model, which has proven that loyalty to work and a clear vision are able to make a real shift in society.
What has been achieved to this day is only a station in a continuous path of work and giving, where attention and hopes turn to Bahraini women to continue writing new chapters of excellence, giving and innovation in the history of precious Bahrain.
