When the new traffic law was issued in 2014, I was one of the first and most powerful supporters, although many voices were then increased expressing their distress from raising the value of fines and tightening the penalties.
I used to say then, and still, that the goal of all of this was never, and it will not be to collect funds or increase the state’s resources, but its highest and first goal is to protect lives and safeguard people’s lives, whether they are drivers, passengers or pedestrians.
Today, with the issuance of the Royal Decree to amend some provisions of the law and tighten the penalties more, it is confirmed again that the vision was in its place, and that the state is steadily proceeding to protect the security of the road and society. Our country puts the safety of man before anything.
Here, let us speak realistically and sincerely, as we are all witnesses and daily as witnessed by our methods of serious incidents, some of which end with the death and death of lives, or with the disability of innocent people, and all this is due to the recklessness of a reckless driver or an abuse of intoxicants or drugs, or because of the transcendence of a red signal as if it does not mean anything, or leading the opposite of the direction indifferently, as if we were in a challenge or a race.
These are not just passing violations, but rather “real crimes” that threaten human life, and they are ravaged by entire families and families, but rather shake the pillars of a peaceful society like the Bahrain community. Here, let us ask in all honesty and humanity, as what is the guilt of a child who loses his father because of the recklessness and recklessness of a driver?! What is the guilt or the loss of her children; Because someone decided to drive at a crazy speed?!
The new tightening of the law, from large fines, to prison penalties, through the possibility of withdrawing licenses or confiscating the vehicle in grave cases. This tightening is a clear message that indulgence with such behaviors is no longer acceptable. Yes, with strength, deterrent laws are alone to put an end to this recklessness. Disclated penalties or simple fines are no longer enough, after we saw the numbers of victims increasing as a result of the indifference of some drivers.
And whoever objects to the thickening of penalties, we simply say to him: Do not violate the law, and you will not be a fine or punishment. Whoever leads perfectly safe, and applies the systems that were originally set to protect and protect others, will never be afraid of these laws. On the contrary, he will find a guarantee of his safety and the safety of his family, when he comes out and returns from the road reassuring. And if you are opposed, you may imagine, God forbid, to lose your son or dear to you because of a reckless driver, then you will demand more severe and stronger laws. Do not reduce the importance of the matter and do not tolerate it.
What happened is a courageous and decisive step from the wise leadership, thanking our dear king and His Highness the Prime Minister, and the Ministry of Interior, led by its loyal and sincere minister, deserves to thank their efforts. It is a step that confirms that souls are more expensive than anything else, and that society cannot accept that its ways are turned into an arenas of recklessness and triviality of souls.
Today we hope that the reckless group will deter, and that we all cooperate as drivers, citizens and residents to make the streets of Bahrain a model of safety and discipline. Here, let us understand that strict laws are not a restriction on freedom, but rather the true guarantee of everyone’s freedom and their authentic right to live safely, and safely return to their homes every day.
