The southern municipal council revealed to “Al -Watan the details of the council’s performance during the third session, where the council held 19 regular sessions during which it discussed 176 topics, for the council holding 3 unusual sessions that witnessed the discussion of four exceptional issues, while the council continued 73 requests for restoration and rain insulators, for the summons of 31 officials from various sides, in addition to raising 98 recommendations, 32 of which were approved, and 22 of them were refused, while 44 were removed. the study.
The head of the municipal council for the southern region, Abdullah Abdullatif, said that the council was keen during this role to follow up on service issues and important projects that concern the southern governorate, where a number of vital projects were discussed in various fields, including infrastructure, sanitation roads, public parks, municipal facilities and follow -up their implementation in cooperation with the relevant authorities.
He said that in addition to this, the Municipal Council worked to study the proposals and observations submitted by citizens, as well as reviewing ways to develop municipal services and upgrade them to be more efficient and response, review service performance and set the necessary recommendations to improve the quality of services provided to citizens in various municipal sectors.
According to the details of the report in which the council singled out the “Al -Watan”, 31 officials from various sides, such as the municipality of the southern region, and the visit of the works, were called in the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, in addition to housing and health, to attend the meetings of the municipal council and discuss them in various municipal issues and problems related to the southern region.
And the report indicated that the South Municipal Council submitted during the third session of the session 98 recommendations, 32 of which were approved, in which 22 recommendations were rejected, and 44 of which are still under study.
The council indicated that the service proposals were issued with 33 recommendations, followed by municipal facilities and services with 25 recommendations, then the recommendations of traffic and traffic safety came with 23 recommendations, while the council submitted 7 recommendations related to laws and regulatory decisions, and 5 recommendations for urban development and the same from planning recommendations.
The report showed that the permanent committee of the Council and consisting of the head of the Municipal Council Abdullah Abdullatif, Chairman of the Technical Committee, Municipal Member Mubarak Faraj and Chairman of the Services and Public Utilities Committee, the municipal member Hamad Al -Zoubi, in addition to the Chairman of the Finance, Legal and Administrative Committee, Mohamed Darraj, organized 19 meetings during which she discussed 141 topics.

With 18 meetings, during which they discussed 51 places in the presence of 11 officials from different bodies, 19 of which are related to technical services by 37.3% of the topics, and the committee also discussed 17 topics related to classifications by 33.3% of the topics, while the number of topics related to the opening license for 24 hours reached 15 topics of 29.4%.
While the Finance, Legal and Administrative Committee of the Council discussed 36 topics, raised 18 proposals, and 18 special meetings were held, and the committee received 38 guests from various bodies and ministries.
The Public Services and Utilities Committee held 22 meetings, through which 77 proposals were submitted, during which 102 topics discussed, 58 of which are related to public services and 33 in municipal services, and the committee hosted 33 officials from various authorities and ministries.
The closing report of the third session of the sixth legislative semester indicated that the maintenance and restoration requests that the Council dealt with from September 2024 to June 2025 amounted to 48 requests, 10 of which and 10 of them were implemented, while 28 applications remained under the procedure.
As for the rain insulation project, the council received 25 requests, 14 of which were executed, while 4 requests were rejected, and 7 requests remained under implementation.

The Municipal Council of the southern region indicated that there are a number of challenges facing its members, including the mechanism of coordination with parliamentary councils and governorates, the absence of a clear legal framework that defines the nature of the relationship and the responsibilities of each party.
The Council recommended the formation of permanent joint committees to facilitate the process of communication and coordination and hold regular periodic meetings between those bodies.
Regarding the benefit of the experiences of the former members, the accumulated experience after the end of the membership recommended that the council recommend the work of the former members of experience and competence as consultants for the new councils, and organizing discussion and workshops, as it is organized periodically with the participation of the former experts.
The council said that it is facing a challenge of insufficient budgets and the absence of the council’s role in defining and setting the priorities of its budget, and accordingly it was recommended to allocate a clear and direct annual budget for the municipal council, and to involve the council in preparing the draft budget through the legal, financial and administrative committee and its approval by the competent authority, and the council granted greater powers in the disbursement of its budget in some of the exchange items of its activities and activities within the legal controls With it, allocating a special item within the budget for social activities and events.
