Dr. Osama Hamdi, a professor of sugar at Harvard University in the United States of America, stressed that the world is witnessing a technological and medical revolution in the treatment of diabetics, noting the use of the artificial pancreas that controls insulin doses according to the body’s needs with high accuracy.

Hamdi said, during television statements, that the industrial pancreas has been in the world for several years, and that it will be applied soon in Egypt for the first time at Al -Nashah Charitable Hospital, where the center is currently following about 1,250 children of the first type of diabetics, and most of them have been provided with continuous measurements of the sugar level in preparation for the use of the actual artificial pancreas.
He pointed out that the cost of the industrial pancreas reaches 350-400 thousand Egyptian pounds, with monthly operating expenses ranging from 35-40 thousand pounds, stressing that charitable support will cover these costs, and that there are future plans to manufacture these devices locally in Egypt to expand the scope of benefit.
Hamdi added that the center also seeks to implement the latest developments in stem cells and artificial intelligence in medicine, where the Copilot system will be used, which is an assistant program for the doctor that provides all accurate information about the patient, phenottaybah and his genes and appropriate treatment for him, to facilitate taking medical decisions and improve treatment results, stressing that Egypt is able to keep pace with the latest medical innovations globally and may manufacture them locally.
