Foreign Minister Dr. Abd al -Latif al -Zayani, at the extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which was held in Jeddah yesterday, headed by the Foreign Minister of the Turkish Republic, Hakan Fidan, and the participation of foreign ministers in the member states of the organization, and the Secretary -General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Hussein Taha. In a speech addressed by the minister to the meeting, he stressed that the Kingdom of Bahrain, through its non-permanent membership in the Security Council during the period 2026-2027, will work to make the Palestinian issue at the forefront of its priorities and highlight the justice of the Palestinian issue in the corridors of the international community, again the Kingdom’s full commitment to support the brotherly Palestinian people in its endeavor to obtain their legitimate rights and end the occupation.
He said that the Kingdom of Bahrain calls for the unification of diplomatic moves, intensifying efforts with the United Nations and the Security Council to end the conflict, adherence to international humanitarian law, the speed of the release of hostages and detainees, facilitate relief efforts, and push for a fair and permanent peace efforts in the region. The Minister affirmed the Kingdom’s steadfast support for the Palestinian issue, as the central issue of the Islamic nation, and basic for peace, security and sustainable stability in the region, and that achieving this requires negotiations between all parties to reach a sustainable solution to the Palestinian issue. He added that this meeting reflects the deep concern of the Islamic nation regarding the ongoing humanitarian crisis and the suffering of the Palestinian people in the occupied territories, and the common concern to stop the war in the Gaza Strip.
The Foreign Minister said that the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and the deprivation of the civilian population of food, water, medicine and necessary services, stresses our joint duty to support the right of the people of the sector to life, freedom and dignity. He praised the efforts of the ministerial committee emanating from the joint Arab Islamic Summit, appreciating the efforts of the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in leading the international coalition for a two -state solution, expressing support for the efforts of the Egyptian -American Qatari mediation in order to a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages and detainees, in addition to Egyptian initiatives to recover and reconstruction in the Gaza Strip.
