Egyptian Algerian talks on Gaza and developments in Libya

Dr. Badr Abdel -Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Affairs of Egyptians abroad, held telephone talks with his Algerian counterpart, Ahmed Ataf, in the context of periodic consultation and continuous coordination between the two brotherly countries.

According to what the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in a statement, Minister Abdel -Ati started contacting the expression of the sincere condolences to the government of the People’s Democratic Republic and its brotherly people in the accident of the fall of a bus from a bridge in the Algerian capital, killing a number of people and wounding others, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured and affirming Egypt’s full solidarity with the sister Algeria in this painful injured.

The two ministers reviewed the paths of bilateral cooperation and the prospects for their development, as the two ministers expressed their satisfaction with the momentum witnessed by Egyptian -Algerian relations during the recent period, and they agreed to continue work to develop cooperation in various fields, as they confirmed the mutual keenness to invest the current momentum to improve political, economic and development cooperation, and explore new horizons that enhance the partnership between the two countries, and contribute to meeting the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples towards development And stability.

The communication dealt with developments in the Gaza Strip, where the two ministers affirmed their fixed position to reject the decision of the Israeli cabinet to expand the scope of the Israeli aggression on Gaza as an escalation step aimed at devoting the illegal occupation of the Palestinian territories, and the continuation of the systematic extermination practiced against the defenseless Palestinian people, in a flagrant violation of the provisions of international law and international humanitarian law, and in an effort to undermine the right of the authentic Palestinian people to determine their destiny and establish their state Independent.

Minister Badr Abdel -Ati reviewed the overall efforts made by Egypt in order to reach a comprehensive agreement that achieves the release of hostages and prisoners, stops Palestinian bloodshed, and ensures that humanitarian aid is fully and without any restrictions.

The two sides agreed on the necessity of immediately reaching a comprehensive ceasefire, ensuring the urgent and unconditional flow of relief and medical assistance, and to stop the policy of starvation and systematic killing that only exacerbates the conflict and nourishes the feelings of extremism and violence.

The two ministers reaffirmed the categorical rejection of Israeli settlement policies, and the illegal expansion in the occupied Palestinian territories, as a serious violation of the provisions of international law, and to strengthen all efforts aimed at achieving a fair and comprehensive peace.

The two ministers also exchanged estimates on the regional conditions of common concern, especially the situation in Libya, where Minister Abdel -Ati stressed the importance of respecting Libyan sovereignty and the unity and integrity of its lands, and supporting the international international efforts and Libyan path to reach a comprehensive political settlement that guarantees the exit of all foreign forces and mercenaries and dismantling the militias.

In the same context, communication dealt with the mechanism of the trio countries between Egypt, Algeria and Tunisia, where it was emphasized that the committee was continued to be activated, ensure the regularity of its periodic meetings, and enhance coordination between the points of communication and preparation for the next ministerial meeting.
