Ambassador Raji Al -Ertbi, the representative of the President of the Republic to the Group of Twenty and the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, revealed Egypt that will host an official meeting of the Group of Twenty in Cairo, in a precedent that is the first of its kind, during the period from 1-3 next September, and is the first official meeting of the Group of Twenty to be held outside the group of the group since its foundation in 1999.

He explained that this exceptional event is the culmination of the distinguished Egyptian participation as a guest country in the group’s meetings for this year for the third time in a row and the fifth in general, and it comes in appreciation of its regional weight, and its tangible contribution to dealing with the most prominent issues raised on the international scene, and its efforts to advance the multilateral negotiating paths, taking into account the concerns and priorities of developing countries, especially African countries, and raises their voice In various international and regional forums.
The Ambassador added that the meeting will be held in coordination with the South African presidency of the Group of Twenty for this year to discuss the problem of growing food security and its multiple dimensions, in the presence of a large number of member states in the Group of Twenty, and the participating countries as a guest in the group’s meetings under South Africa, along with a number of international financing organizations and institutions.
The meeting is scheduled to deal with the main outputs of the work group concerned with food security of the Group of Twenty, in addition to negotiations on the ministerial statement on the global food security expected to be adopted during the ministerial meeting of the group held in South Africa next September 19, and its launch as one of the official documents that will be issued by the summit of the group to be held in Johannesburg on September 22 and 23.
