The Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit, held in the Chinese city of Tianjin, imposed itself as a prominent station on the international scene, where the leading leaders of member states and observers, including Russia, India, Egypt and a number of regional and international powers, gathered at a time when the world is witnessing an escalation in geopolitical and economic tensions.
The summit aims to unify visions and enhance multilateral cooperation in the fields of politics, security, economic development, energy, and combating terrorism, reflecting the organization’s commitment to play an active role in reformulating international balances and devoting a more pluralistic global system in facing worsening challenges.
In this regard, Chinese writer and analyst Souad Yai Shen Hwa said in statements to Cairo 24, that Egypt is the first Arab and African country to establish diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China, and its participation is an important as a member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Tianjin, pointing out that it is not just an extension of the best historical period in bilateral relations between Egypt and China, but also represents a major step in expanding the influence of the organization towards the Middle East region And Africa.
She pointed out that the summit is an opportunity to push the building of a common destiny society to a new level, in bilateral relations between Egypt and China, noting that the summit provides an important platform to interact at the highest levels between China and Egypt.
She stressed that the talks of Chinese President Xi Jinping with Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly, set the primary direction for the next stage of relations between the two countries, paving the way to celebrate the seventieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2026, and made bilateral cooperation more continuous strategic.
Egypt’s participation in the Shanghai summit from the perspective of practical cooperation
The Chinese analyst explained that from the perspective of practical cooperation, the summit enhances the logic of dual cooperation between the consensus of policies and the depth in the fields between China and Egypt, where the two sides renewed the strengthening of the compatibility of the Belt and Road Initiative with Egypt’s Vision 2030, where trade cooperation in the Suez Canal region will continue as a symbolic project in playing an industrial grouping and regional impact, adding Chinese experiences for the manufacturing process in Egypt.
On the other hand, she pointed out that cooperation between the two countries extended from the fields of trade and traditional economy to new paths such as joint manufacturing, new energy, electric cars, seawater desalination, in line with Egypt’s needs in sustainable development and the promotion of industries, and also reflects China’s directions in transforming industries and transporting technology, to create a new cooperation model based on mutual benefit and integration of advantages, noting that more importantly, that mutual support in basic interests It enhances political confidence and strengthens practical cooperation, as Egypt is committed to the principle of one China, and China supports Egypt in regional issues of common concern, which makes China -Egyptian relations a model for building a common destiny society in the new era.
Egypt’s participation in the Shanghai summit from the perspective of regional cooperation
As for regional cooperation, the Chinese researcher explained that Egypt is located at the Asia, Africa and Europe Forum, which is a major force in the Arab world and a pivotal member of the African Union, and its participation in the summit aims mainly to build a bridge for the interaction between the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Middle East and Africa.
She emphasized that Egypt’s participation in the summit enhances mutual trust, joint benefit, equality, consultation, respect for various civilizations, and the pursuit of joint development in the region, where the Middle East is currently facing double requests related to the security restructuring and the need for development, and the experience of the Shanghai organization in combating terrorism and economic integration can be in line with the needs of Arab countries, and Egypt as a mediator that can enhance practical cooperation in exchanging information Intelligence to combat terrorism, energy and infrastructure.
She continued: As for Africa, Egypt’s participation opens a window for cooperation between the African organization and the African continent. Africa represents the land of opportunities for global development, but it faces challenges related to infrastructure and industry base, and the experience of the member states of the organization in the areas of infrastructure, energy and digital economy that corresponds to the continent’s needs in linking, integration and manufacturing, and Egypt’s participation can enhance ties between the organization and the African Union, And make the results of cooperation more accurate to meet the needs of African development, such as supporting the green transformation through cooperation in new energy, and the digital gap through cooperation in the digital economy.
