An Arab diplomatic source revealed the scenes of the selection of the next Secretary -General of the League of Arab States next, succeeding the current Secretary -General Ahmed Aboul Gheit, whose term ends next year.
The source explained to Cairo 24, that there is an initial consensus on Ambassador Nabil Fahmy, former Egyptian Foreign Minister, to occupy the position of next Secretary -General of the League of Arab States, a candidate by Cairo.

He added that it is expected that the choice of the Secretary of the Secretary next during the meeting of the League of Arab States at the level of foreign ministers in its regular session next March, to be chosen permanently, in preparation for presenting the ministerial decision at the next Arab summit.
