The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today, Monday, its intention to send humanitarian aid to South Sudan, in light of what it described as the humanitarian crisis in the African country, which is exacerbated by the outbreak of the cholera epidemic and the lack of basic resources.
Israel and southern Sudan talks
The ministry stated in a statement that the aid will be received through the Israeli National Aid Agency, Machav, affiliated with the Foreign Ministry, under the direction of Foreign Minister Gideon Saar, and the assistance includes basic medical equipment and means of water purification, as well as special hygiene requirements to prevent cholera and food packages.
The announcement comes at a time when reports are circulating about talks between Israel and southern Sudan on the possibility of absorbing Palestinian refugees displaced from the Gaza Strip, according to Yedioth Ahronoth.
A few days ago, the Foreign Affairs of South Sudan denied that it was circulating about Juba reception talks for the displaced Palestinians.
