The Speaker of Parliament Ahmad Al -Muslim referred to the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee a proposal to a law to add a new article No. (7 bis) to Law No. (39) of 2020 regarding the state’s general budget. The proposal provides for the disbursement of an increase in the living improvement bonus for retirees that were approved in the two public budgets of the state (2023-2024) and (2025-2026) by 40 dinars per month, and it is included in the general budget of the state as a fixed annual accreditation, so that the amount of the bonus is 230 dinars for pensions that do not exceed 700 dinars, and 205 dinars for pensions between 700 and 1500 dinars, And 115 dinars for pensions that exceed 1500 dinars.
The explanatory note of the proposal, submitted by Representative Abdel Hakim Al -Shano, stated that the goal is to return the favor to retirees who contributed to building the Kingdom’s institutions and community service, and ensuring a decent life for them that take into account their living conditions. He stressed that the proposal aims to set a fixed annual mechanism for the increase, away from temporary solutions, to alleviate the economic burdens resulting from the high costs of living, and to address the suspension of the annual increase, which was 3%previously.
