American pharmaceutical company Eli Lily has announced encouraging results for an advanced clinical experience on its new pills and Rforglibrone for treatment Obesity And type 2 diabetes.
Oral medicine achieves amazing results in weight loss and diabetes
The results of the study showed that the drug is able to significantly reduce weight, as well as improve health indicators associated with sugar levels, blood pressure and cholesterol.
More than 1,600 patients participated in the study, as they were given different doses of the drug ranging between 6 and 36 mg per day, while another group took a fake medicine.
After 72 weeks, the category that got the highest dose (36 mg) managed to lose approximately 10.5% of the body weight, equivalent to about 23 pounds on average. On the other hand, the fictitious drug group only lost 2.2%.
The effect of the drug was not limited to weight loss, but also included an improvement in the level of cumulative sugar (A1C) by a rate of 1.3% and 1.8%, as well as lowering blood pressure, harmful cholesterol, and triglycerides, which reduces the possibility of heart disease and strokes.
Urforcelbron is characterized by the form of oral pills, unlike current drugs such as OzemPIC and Wegovy that are injectable, which may give it a great advantage in terms of ease of use and spread globally.
Despite the promising results, the study monitored some side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and constipation, but most of them were mild to medium, while about 10% of the participants on the higher dose were forced to stop treatment due to these symptoms.
The company confirmed that it will submit data to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) before the end of the year, in the hope of obtaining the official approval of its launch in the markets, amid expectations that it will contribute to redefining obesity treatment globally.
