The number of candidates for the presidency and membership of the Board of Directors of the Bahraini Journalists Association has increased to seven candidates and female candidates since the candidacy was opened last Friday, amid a prominent presence of the female component.
Issa Al -Shayji, the current president of the association and chairman of the editorial board of the Al -Ayyam newspaper, was submitted to the presidency of the Board of Directors. On the other hand, five media and journalists were nominated for membership of the Council, Maryam Anwar Ahmed, Hind Ahmed Karam, Marwa Khamis Al -Akrawi, Rasha Al -Ibrahim and Lulouh Abu Dlama
The president of the association is held separately from the members of the Board of Directors, who are elected collectively, according to the statute of the Bahraini Journalists Association.
The association announced the opening of the candidacy for the next session from last Friday, with applications officially submitted to the Board of Directors via e -mail: (Email Protected), in compliance with the provisions of the statute.
The nomination door will be closed three days before the General Assembly, scheduled for Saturday, August 16, 2025, in the Isa Bin Salman Cultural Hall at the Graduate Club headquarters in the Adliya region. The meeting schedule is scheduled to include discussion of the literary and financial reports, followed by submitting the resignation of the current board of directors, in preparation for the election of a new council. It is required for the meeting that the member must pay his annual participation.
