On Friday, the swimming competition competitions in the open waters (inherited swimmers), which were held in the Gulf of Bahrain, were concluded as the first activities of the eighth edition of the Nasser bin Hamad season for marine heritage sports, with the participation of about 80 swimmers who competed for two different distances in two age groups, in a distinctive competitive atmosphere and a remarkable presence.
In the category (A) designated for ages from 30 to 45 years for a distance of 1000 meters, the swimmer Muhammad Abdulaziz Al -Dossari achieved the first place with a time (16:22:56 minutes), while Muhammad Yahya Jafin came second with a time (16:37:92 minutes), and Bilal Othman Al -Zara’i finished third with a time (18:05:21 minutes).
As for the category (B) for ages from 46 years and over a distance of 800 meters, Badr Jassem Sanad won first place with a time (12:43:03 minutes), followed by Abdul Rahman Jassim Abdul Rahman in the second place with a time (13:23:28 minutes), while Nawaf Hamad came third in a time (13:25:34 minutes).
After the previous end, the CEO of the Bahraini Committee for Popular Heritage Sports, Tariq Salem, and the head of the Nasser bin Hamad season for marine heritage sports, Mohammed Al -Rumaihi, crowned the first three winners for each category.
The Organizing Committee for the Nasser bin Hamad season for marine heritage sports has devoted valuable prizes to the first ten positions in each category, in appreciation of their efforts and to motivate them to continue participating in the season’s competitions, reflecting the great support for talents and enhancing the spirit of positive competition between athletes.
The open water swimming competition is one of the most prominent activities of the season, as it represents a profound association with Bahrain’s maritime heritage. The committee also devoted a similar competition to the young, to be held later in the season.
The season continues until mid -November, including various other competitions that include popular rowing races, oyster extraction, and a fishing competition (Al -Hadqa), in addition to a new event held for the first time under the name “Al -Naham”, which is an open competition for all people in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
