US President Donald Trump threatened to disable a new stadium for the Washington Cumaners team, the American Football League, if the team did not prepare its old name “Redzkins” (Red Indians).
Trump was sharply criticized for the owners of the Washington teams, Cumanders and Cleveland Gardeans, noting that they abandoned their former names “Redzkins” and “Indian” (Indians) as part of what he described as “forced cultural transformation”.
The Washington Kumanders and Cleveland Gardeans have maintained the basement in their current two in the 2022 season, and both confirmed that there are no plans to change them.
Trump said through a post on the “Truth Social” platform on Sunday that he wanted the Cleveland team to return to the previous name, noting that there are “great demands for this matter as well.”
The US President stressed that the Washington national football team will be “much more valuable” if it regains its old name.
“I may put a restriction on them, which is that if they do not restore the name Washington Redzkins, and get rid of the ridiculous title of Washington, you will not conclude a deal with them to build a stadium in Washington,” Trump said on his social networking site.
