Javier Tibas, president of the Spanish League, closed the door to Real Madrid about postponing its first match in the new season of La Liga against Osasuna, despite the club’s demands and support for the players’ federation, stressing that the announced table will not change.

No change in the table

Tebas explained that the League does not find any justification for amending the date of the foregoing confrontation on August 19, despite Real Madrid’s participation in the Club World Cup, in which the team lost a heavy 0-4 result against Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals. He added: “Paris Saint -Germain does not postpone its matches in France, and Chelsea does not receive privileges in England, and there is no reason for exceptional treatment in Spain.”

Royal request and union warnings

Real Madrid submitted an official request to postpone the opening meeting due to the narrow period between the end of its participation in the World Cup clubs and the beginning of preparations for the new season, as his players ’vacation begins on July 10, and it is supposed to end on the 31st of the same month. According to the list, the players get 21 days, which means that the team will not be able to conduct sufficient physical and technical preparation before the Osasuna match.

Despite the Spanish Federation’s support for professional players for this requirement, Tebas adheres to the scheduled date, pointing out that “the only commitment is to provide 21 days of vacation, and it is not necessary to give an additional preparation period.”

Courtois anger and the association’s position

According to sources close to the Real Madrid dressing room, goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois expressed his dissatisfaction with the pressure of matches and the quick return, calling for its turn to postpone the first match, which was also rejected by the association, considering that the team will actually get 20 days of rest, and “I do not think that the loss of a day will change anything”, according to Thibbas.

What next?

So far, the association has not received a new official request to reschedule the meeting, but it is expected that the coming days will witness more moves by Real Madrid, especially if the mass and media pressures escalate to support the team’s position.
