On Monday, the World Health Organization stressed the necessity of providing a revolutionary drug to prevent HIV immediately in pharmacies and clinics and through online consulting.
This drug only needs two injections annually to provide almost complete protection from the virus and the development of AIDS.
In new guidelines issued, on Monday, the World Health Organization said that the “Linakapafir” drug is that is an antiviral treatment, its long -term and very effective effect, and it represents a substitute for orally oral grains and other short -acting options.
“Although the HIV vaccine is still out of reach,” Linakapafir “is the perfect choice as it is anti -virus, long -term, and experiments have proven that it prevents all cases of HIV among people at risk.”
Fast test sets
The support of the World Health Organization for this injection drug is important due to the stagnation that has the efforts to prevent HIV around the world.
To facilitate people’s reception of injection in their homes, the UN agency also recommends using fast testing groups for the disease instead of “complex and expensive procedures”.
According to the agency, 1.3 million people were injured in AIDS in 2024, and sex workers and sex workers were the most affected by the disease, men who have sex with men, transgender people, injection drug users, prisoners, children and adolescents.
During the thirteenth conference of the International AIDS Association on Science and HIV in the Rwandan capital Kigali, Dr. Tedros stressed that the World Health Organization “is committed to working with countries and partners to ensure this innovation reaching societies as quickly as possible.”
The organization’s recommendation is also compatible with the use of “Linakapafir” injection with the American health authorities that it agreed to in June.
An invitation to implement
Although access to “Linakapafir” injection is still limited outside the clinical trials today, the World Health Organization urged governments, donors and partners to combine the “immediate” injection into the national programs for the prevention of HIV.
Other HIV prevention options include World Health Organization daily oral tablets, “Capotgharavir” injection, which is injected once every two months, and the vaginal “Deepferin” episode as part of an increasing number of tools to eliminate AIDS.
Funding dilemma
In light of the tremendous cuts in financing global efforts to eliminate AIDS, including the American President’s Energy Energy Plan of AIDS, which was launched in 2003 and focused on controlling the disease in Africa, the World Health Organization has also released new practical instructions on how to sustain AIDS services.
“We have the tools and knowledge to eliminate AIDS … What we need now is a bold implementation of these recommendations, is fair and supported by local communities,” said Dr. Meg Duhriti, Director of Global Programs Department of AIDS, hepatitis and sexually transmitted diseases by the World Health Organization.
Global health problem
By the end of 2024, the number of people with AIDS was estimated at 40.8 million, of whom 65% in Africa.
Nearly 630,000 people died for reasons related to the virus globally, and the number of people with the virus is estimated at 1.3 million people, including 120,000 children.
One of the positive aspects is that the chances of obtaining AIDS drugs are constantly increasing, as 31.6 million people received treatment in 2024 compared to 30.3 million people in the previous year.
Without anti -virus drugs, HIV attacks the body’s immune system, which ultimately leads to AIDS.
