The death toll from the Syrian army has risen to 18 as a result of the dissolution of the clashes between armed men from the Druze community and the Bedouin clans in the As -Suwayda Governorate, in southern Syria.
The Syrian Ministry of Defense said, in a statement, that during the implementation of the army units for its national tasks in breaking up the conflict and stabilizing, its military points were subjected to treacherous attacks from an armed group outside the law, which resulted in the rise of 18 martyrs of our soldiers, and the injury of a number of others.
The number of victims has increased due to the clashes and mutual shelling in As -Suwayda, in southern Syria, since Sunday morning, to nearly 100 dead and dozens of injured, according to Syrian media.
Clashes in the province of As -Suwayda
The clashes continue in the endosperm governorate between the Bedouin clans groups and the elements of the ministries of defense and the interior on the one hand, and Druze militants on the other hand, in the western side of the governorate, since yesterday Sunday.
The violent clashes broke out on Monday morning, after an armed attack carried out by groups of the Bedouin tribes with the participation of elements of the Ministries of Defense and Interior, starting from the eastern countryside of Daraa, targeting a number of villages of the Western countryside of As -Suwayda.
The spokesman for the Syrian Ministry of Interior, Noureddine Al -Baba, confirmed that the state’s intervention and the imposition of the prestige of the law within the province of As -Suwayda has become necessary and popular.
The spokesman said in a press statement, that this intervention comes after the state of security chaos that the governorate witnessed for the past seven months, stressing the need to resolve against the escalating groups that raise sedition and terror among citizens.
