The Supreme Council for the Environment and the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture organized a field visit to representatives of local newspapers to the Doha Arad Reserve, in celebration of the International Day to preserve the ecosystem of the mangrove forests, which falls on July 26 of each year.
The visit came with the aim of highlighting the environmental role of Crimea, and highlighting the importance of national initiatives concerned with protecting them, as part of continuous efforts to enhance the sustainability of natural resources. The visit also reflects the concerns of the concerned authorities to continue to strengthen the role of the media and the national press as an active partner in developing societal awareness and contributing to supporting the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain towards environmental sustainability.
During the visit, Eng. Jaafar Sami Al -Tajer, Director of Local Agricultural Production Department at the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, confirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain continues with determination to implement plans and projects that contribute to achieving carbon neutrality by 2060, and enhancing its commitment to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the most prominent of which is the “Quran” initiative, which is emanating from the afforestation plan, which aims to double the number of Crimea trees to four Fold by 2035.
The merchant explained that Crimea trees are considered one of the most important natural solutions to counter climate change, because of their active role in absorbing carbon dioxide, improving water quality, and providing a rich environment for marine life, praising the integration of national efforts to enhance marine afforestation and preserve coastal environmental systems.
For her part, Mrs. Nouf Ali Al -Wasmi, Director of the Reserves Department of the Supreme Council for the Environment, confirmed that the Doha Arad Reserve is one of the inspiring national models in preserving biological diversity and environmental habitats, and it is a pioneering awareness center for environmental and climate initiatives in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Al -Wasmi indicated that the Supreme Council for the Environment is part of an ambitious national plan to develop Crimea to achieve the highest levels of environmental sustainability, in order to support the Kingdom’s readiness to face environmental and climatic challenges with efficacy and competence.
