His Excellency Mrs. Karima Mohamed Al -Abbasi, Secretary -General of the Shura Council, announced the launch of a new electronic page through the official website of the Council Shura.bh, concerned with presenting the efforts of the Shura Council and its initiatives related to achieving the sustainable development goals approved by the United Nations, which comes as a qualitative step to highlight the pivotal role of parliamentary work in supporting the comprehensive and sustainable national development process, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the country The Most Merciful, may God protect and preserve him, and in line with the initiatives of the esteemed government in this aspect led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, may God protect him.
Al -Abbasi stressed that the General Secretariat pays great attention to highlighting the initiatives and efforts of the Shura Council in supporting and implementing the sustainable development goals in all its economic, social and environmental dimensions, in order to activate the directives of His Excellency Mr. Ali bin Saleh Al -Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, the need to highlight the qualitative steps and effective initiatives in this field, and in a way that reflects the integration of parliamentary action with the relevant national plans, Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, as a national priority and a common responsibility, requires the integration of legislative, executive and societal efforts.
Al -Abbasi noted the keenness to provide this page in the English language as well, with the aim of highlighting the efforts of the council internationally, in a way that establishes the image of the Kingdom of Bahrain as a country committed to the sustainable development agenda, at the level of legislative work, where the legislative authority works within the framework of its contributions within the International Parliamentary Union to set legislative frameworks, exchange experiences, and support national and international obligations related to sustainable development goals.
The Secretary -General of the Shura Council pointed out that perpetuating public participation and enhancing communication with society is among the important and basic goals that have been taken into consideration, if this page allows everyone easy access to information and data related to the council’s efforts related to the sustainable development goals, such as the proposed laws and amendments that enhance good education, health, gender equality, climate work, and others, pointing at the same time to the work of the General Secretariat on many of Initiatives that support promoting digital transformation and electronic communication in preparation for the next fourth session of the sixth legislative semester.
