Informed sources at the Ministry of Awqaf confirmed the return of the opening of the shrine of Imam Al -Hussein, starting today, Monday 12 Muharram, corresponding to July 7, 2025, after its closure on Friday 9 Muharram for maintenance, and the closure continued until Sunday 11 Muharram, coinciding with the anniversary of Ashura.
The sources confirmed to Cairo 24 that the closure of the shrine of Imam Al -Hussein was temporary, noting that the mosque was open to worshipers over the past days.

In this regard, Dr. Ali Jumaa, the former Mufti of the Republic and a member of the Senior Scholars Authority in Al -Azhar, said: Imam Al -Hussein is the tribe of the Messenger of God, he is Al -Hussein bin Ali bin Abi Talib bin Abdul Muttalib bin Hashem bin Abdul Manaf Al -Qurashi Al -Hashemi Abu Abdullah Rehana the Prophet ﷺ and his likeness from the chest to what is below from him and when he was born the ear of the Prophet ﷺ in his ear, and he is the master of the people of Paradise.
