The first half of the twentieth century is the golden age of the press specifically with the 1920s, as the press has become the link between the people, power, power, people, or voice that expresses a specific orientation, and each party with their joy.
Several newspapers and magazines have emerged that gained their stardom after the revolution of 1919, most notably: Al -Masry, Al -Muqattam, Al -Ahram, Photographer, Al -Bayan, the last hour, and each of them represented a specific orientation targeting a category, as the press at that time was very important, because of its severe impact on public opinion and the ruling authority itself, and sometimes some consider that the press necessarily must be against power or else it will not achieve it.
The movie “Tears of Her Majesty” starring Samir Sabry and Suhair Ramzi is one of those films that dealt with the press and the conditions of journalists, and the political situation during the royal and republican periods, although the royal period has the largest share of work time.
The work tells the story of Mahfouz Ajab, who plays the role of Samir Sabry, as his life turns upside down when one of the demonstrations condemning the English occupation of Egypt passes by the forties of the last century, and he will join it unintentionally, then the police arrested him on charges of joining an organization aimed at overthrowing the regime, and he is imprisoned for five years.
Before that, during his interrogation from the prosecutor, a journalist enters him in order to take the information from the prosecutor to write it in the next number of the newspaper, so Mahfouz notes the wonder of great respect and the full reception of the journalist by the prosecutor, so that he seeks wonder after leaving the prison to the press.
Ajab Abdel -Azim Lutfi, the editor -in -chief of Al -Asrar newspaper, who plays his role, Farid Shawky, will win, and he will gain his loyalty and confidence later.
The press is nicknamed the fourth authority in reference to the three main authorities: legislative, executive and judicial, and because of the clear impact on the previous three authorities, and the work addresses what this authority is and the extent of its consistency with reality, is it concerned with the truth and the search for information is devoid of every direction? Or is all of the above a means and not an end?
In one of the scenes of the work, Samir Sabry talks to Farid Shawky, saying: “You taught us that the journalist is not attitudes or principles, but they must serve him personally.” In reference to Al -Barjabati based on the personal interest even if the apparent is the public good, for example, it is a wonder involved in a secret communist organization, and when Saad assassinates his colleague in the newspaper and the organization that plays the role of Ahmed Badir The Egyptian, he indicates to the head of the political pen in order to earn his friendliness, and on the other hand betraying his girlfriend with the royal dancer in order to obtain information related to the important important figures, and sometimes the free officers befriends him to share their secrets and then show them as well, and his loyalty is not for any of them, but for those who provide him with only journalistic uniqueness, and in the end he achieves success.
It is not satisfied with this issue, even if it is the fundamental issue, but rather touched on several other issues, such as: the vast gap between the rich and the poor, the society’s vision of the divorced woman, the principle of the end justifies the means, political corruption, and other matters.
It is worth noting that the movie of tears, Her Majesty, was shown for the first time in January 1992, directed by Atef Salem, the story of the great journalist Moussa Sabri, a script and a dialogue by Ahmed Saleh, and the music of Moody Imam’s visa.
