Engineer Sherif El -Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, offered an apology to citizens for the interruption of drinking water supplies in some areas in Giza Governorate, as well as its irregularity in other areas and weakness, due to the fall of electricity sources for 3 main electrical stations: the gold island socket, the gold island purification plant, and the Abu Nomros purification plant, and these sources combined give us one million m3 of water representing about 30% of The total energy produced from water in Giza Governorate; Where 3 million and 300 thousand m3 per day are produced in the governorate, to serve its population, which is estimated at about 10 million, other than 3 million hesitants on the governorate.
The Minister of Housing explains the reasons for the weakness and interruption of drinking water in Giza and provides an official apology to citizens
The Minister of Housing said. It has a total interruption in water supply service, and at the same time more than 55 tank water was provided to feed the areas where there was completely interruption.
The Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities touched on the efforts made by the Ministry in Giza Governorate, during the last period, whether through the water company, or through the New Urban Communities Authority in October 6 City and its neighboring cities, pointing out that there is a volume of projects in the governorate with a value close to 14 billion pounds; In order to completely advance the infrastructure of water and sewage networks, we are also working to confront the random expansion that occurred in some areas in Giza Governorate, and the random growth that represents a great burden, yet we seek to meet all the needs of our people in these areas.
The minister added: We are also working to implement the directives for increasing the ability of generators that work exceptionally in emergency periods only according to design standards to cover 50% of the stations needs at the time of emergency, and there is a study that is currently being conducted to cover 100%; In order to fully cover the stations, in addition to coordination with the Minister of Electricity regarding the two exporters from two different transformers, even if we cost a lot, but it will cover our entire needs.
