Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, held a meeting today, Thursday, to follow up the developments of the mechanisms of work in the national blood transfusion services system, and to expand its services and medical supplies for blood transfusion procedures, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the new city of El Alamein.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, said that the minister briefed on the achievements of work and activities for blood transfusion services in all governorates of the Republic, during the last period, and listened to the challenges facing the system, and directed to overcome them and provide all the tools necessary to ensure their regularity and sustainability, and the Minister also briefed the developments of the Blood Control Council work.
The Minister of Health reassures the availability of blood stocks inside the centers and directs the expansion of the provision of medical supplies
He continued that the minister reassured the availability of the strategic stock of blood in all its factions within the blood centers at the level of the Republic, stressing the importance of continuous communication and coordination between all blood transfusion public and private centers to achieve balance and integration, as well as expanding the provision of medical tools and supplies with blood transfusion services, as well as intensifying awareness activities that urge blood donation among citizens.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Peter Wajih, Assistant Minister of Health and Population for Medical Affairs, Dr. Faten Musaad, Director General of National Blood Transfusion Services at the Ministry, and Dr. Fatima Shoman, Head of the Central Administration for Blood Operations.
