Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between the ministry and Sanofi-Egypt for pharmaceutical industries, entitled “A safe beginning” to enhance normal births and reduce the rates of unjustified cesarean deliveries.
The protocol comes within the second axis of the Golden Presidential Presidential Initiative, and aims to improve health services provided to citizens, and to enhance the health of the mother and the child throughout Egypt.

The protocol was signed by Dr. Abla Al -Alfi, Deputy Minister of Health for Population and Family Development, and Dr. Sherif Rushdi, Head of the Sanofi Medical Sector in Egypt and Africa.
During the signing ceremony, the Minister praised the success of the initiative and fruitful cooperation with Sanofi, stressing the Ministry’s commitment to support health and awareness services to reach all governorates.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman of the Ministry, explained that the protocol focuses on raising awareness of safe natural births, highlighting the risk of unnecessary cesarean deliveries, especially the blood veins (VTE) clots after birth, as well as the implementation of awareness campaigns via social media, and the training of 1,000 health care specialists to provide ideal care for the mother and child, in addition to developing risk assessment tools and care protocols.
For his part, Adrien Delamear-Dipotville, General Manager of Sanofi Egypt, affirmed the company’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with the Ministry in the areas of health care and innovation, including supporting clinical experiences and digital health applications, and Jean Francois Logore, CEO of the Alfi application, presented an offer about the role of application in improving access to health care.
The signature was attended by a number of officials, including Dr. Kawthar Mahmoud, a member of the Senate and Nursing Syndicate, Dr. Amr Ayed, Assistant Minister of Health for Information Systems, Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Abdel Ghaffar, Chairman of the Hospital Authority, and representatives of Sanofi.
