The Executive Director of the Bahrain Center for Strategic and International Studies and Energy “Studies”, Mr. Abdullah Muhammad Al -Ahmad, participated in the work of the fifteenth session of the Gulf Research Forum, which is organized annually by the Gulf Research Center at Cambridge University in the United Kingdom, with the participation of a group of decision makers, experts, academics and researchers from all over the world.
During his participation, the Executive Director stressed the importance of moving from official partnerships to the paths of broad societal interaction, as a pillar that would support the strengthening of Gulf -European relations in the long term, stressing that commercial diplomacy, which has become a pivotal element in establishing new international alliances, is no less important than the framework of traditional military cooperation.
He also called on the executive director to adopt a regional integrated approach to the security of the Arabian Gulf, taking into account the threats of regional security, especially the navigation security in the Red Sea, with a focus on building capacity and the activation of mediation and early warning mechanisms, and the establishment of a regular institutional dialogue that links security to development and keeps pace with accelerating geopolitical transformations.
It is worth noting that the work of the forum began with major words for both His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, His Excellency Mr. Jassim Muhammad Al -Badawi, Secretary -General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab Gulf States, His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz bin Saqr, President of the Gulf Research Center, His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz Hamad Al -Aweish, Assistant Secretary -General for Political Affairs and Negotiations in the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council for the Arab Gulf States, and His Excellency Mr. May, the special representative of the European Union for the Gulf region, where speakers stressed the importance of consolidating aspects of political, security and economic cooperation between the two sides.
The Gulf Research Center Forum this year included 12 workshops, centered on a number of important topics. Researchers of the “Studies” Center participated in some of these workshops.
This participation reflects the commitment of the “Studies” center in its role as a leading intellectual institution in active engagement within international academic dialogues, and the consolidation of its position in the focus of initiatives that contribute to the formulation of a more stable and integrated future for the region and the world.
