On Friday, the European Union Council approved the eighteenth package of sanctions against Russia, which includes 14 individuals and 41 legal entities.

A statement published on the European Union Council website said: The European Union Council approved today the eighteenth package of economic and individual restrictions related to the energy, banking and army sectors in Russia .. The Council agreed on an important list of 55 names, including 14 individuals and 41 legal entities.

It is noteworthy that the sanctions also affected the first time the captain of a ship whose identity was not revealed, in addition to a private international transport company.

Moscow’s response to European sanctions

In the first reaction from Moscow, Russian presidential spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, confirmed that Russia considers the unilateral sanctions imposed by the European Union on Friday, and indicated that Russia has gained immunity and adaptation to life in light of restrictions.

In response to a question about the 18th package of the new sanctions that the European Union announced on Russia, Peskov added: Until we have witnessed a somewhat coherent European position against Russia, and we have repeatedly emphasized that we consider these unilateral restrictions illegal, and we oppose them.

Peskov considered that the sanctions are a double -edged sword, adding: Every new package of sanctions adds a negative impact on the countries to which they join .. This is a double -edged sword.

He continued, saying: Of course, we need to analyze the new package of European sanctions in order to reduce its consequences to the slightest extent.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said that it is not unlikely that the volume of trade exchange with the European Union will decline to scratch, after the sanctions imposed on Moscow.

Grushko stressed that Russia does not exclude counter -measures after analyzing the eighteenth package of European Union sanctions.

He said in this regard: We will definitely analyze its impact on our economy, and we will take measures that support our interests when necessary, and it is also possible to take some counter -measures.

He added that building a multi -polar world will accelerate due to Western threats to Russia’s partners to impose secondary sanctions.
