The African Local Players Championship “Chan 2024” will start at an exceptional date during August 2025, with the participation of 19 teams led by four Arab teams, Morocco, Algeria, Sudan and Mauritania. The tournament is jointly organized by three East African countries: Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, after postponing from January to August based on the decision of the Confederation of African Football.
When is the African Nations Championship for locals 2025?
The tournament will be held from 2 to 30 August 2025, with the participation of 19 teams, which were distributed to 4 uneven groups, in a unique system for the first time on the date of the tournament. Morocco, Mauritania, Algeria and Sudan will participate in representatives of the Arab teams.
Details of the championship system and division of groups
The “Chan 2024” system depends on the division of teams into 4 groups, qualifying from each of the first and second places to the quarter -finals. Competitions start from the group stage and then be completed with exclusionary roles, until the final arrival scheduled for August 30.

When will the first round matches be held?
The group stage competitions will start on August 2, facing Tanzania against Burkina Faso, and the first round matches will continue until August 5, and strong meetings are witnessed, the most prominent of which are:

Mauritania x Madagascar – August 3 at 8:00 pm
Algeria × Uganda – August 4 at 8:00 pm

The reason for the absence of the Egyptian team from the African Championship for locals
The Egyptian team is absent from participating in the current version, after bid farewell to the qualifiers against South Africa. The “Pharaohs” lost in the total of the two matches with a score of 4-2, to qualify the Bavana Pavana team instead.
What are the financial prizes for the championship?
The Confederation of African Football announced the increase in the financial prizes of the tournament, as the winning champion receives the title of “Chan 2024” $ 3.5 million, in the framework of seeking to develop the championship and raise its marketing and sports value.
