With the support and guidance of His Excellency the team, the doctor of Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health and Chairman of the Bahraini Diabetes Association, Dr. Maryam Al -Hajri, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, opened the annual summer activity allocated to children with diabetes and their parents for the year 2025, in cooperation with the hotels and Westin, Meridian, and Sharaton.
Dr. Al -Hajri emphasized that this activity represents an extension of the “Shorouk” camp, which was organized by the association for more than 25 years, and aims to educate children about how to coexist with diabetes and raise their spirits, as well as investing the time of the summer vacation in a way that benefits them.
She pointed out that the association, since its foundation in 1989, was keen to provide support and educational programs for all categories of diabetes, while strengthening the community partnership with various sectors to support its health mission.
For her part, Dr. Samia Al -Qattan, Chairman of the Shorouk Committee, explained that the program targets more than 150 children between the ages of 6 and 12, with the participation of their relatives, and under the supervision of a medical, nursing staff and volunteers from schools and universities.
The summer activity included many awareness and recreational activities, among them competitions and games under the supervision of Professor Sami Al -Emadi, interactive awareness paragraphs led by the nursing team headed by the nurse Fathia Rajab, in addition to the participation of the mobile unit in the Irish Royal College, a health workshop on mouth and dental care presented by Dr. Taghreed Ajour, and others on first aid presented by the Bahraini Red Crescent Association team presented Under the leadership of Professor Fatima Ahmed.
The hotel’s official in the hotel also participated in providing an application workshop for teaching children to prepare a healthy meal.
The program concluded with the distribution of evaluation forms prepared by Dr. Dalal Al -Rumaihi, Chairman of the Association’s Scientific Committee, to measure the impact of the activity and develop its future programs, with thanks to all the participants and supporters for their active contribution to the success of this annual event.
