The Bahrain Space Agency (BSA) was chosen to participate in the development of the national space program strategy tool, and this participation comes within an initiative of the World Economic Forum (WEF), which aims to support countries in building sustainable and effective space strategies and directed towards achieving specific goals, and contributes to the maximum benefit from technology and space applications at the societal and economic levels and support the development of national strategies while avoiding repetition in efforts By building on existing global achievements, taking advantage of lessons and best practices in this aspect.
The tool has been developed in cooperation with the company “PWC”, and provides step -by -step guidelines and evidence recommendations, along with visions of a quantitative derived from international best practices. The tool includes a supportive paper to help countries develop comprehensive space programs. The tool also deals with the increasing complexity in the space sector, enhancing cooperation, exchanging knowledge and strategic compatibility. It also highlights the space of space in promoting sustainable development, climate resilience and global governance, as well as addressing emerging challenges such as cybersecurity of space systems.
On her participation in this initiative, Professor Rasha Al -Amad, Head of Strategic Planning at the Bahrain Space Agency, said: “The agency’s contribution to developing this tool came based on the global reputation achieved by the agency and its continuous successes in achieving its strategic goals, which were set according to clear criteria comparable to the best global strategies in the space sector, and His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Al -Asiri, CEO of the agency, participated in establishing this cooperation via His participation in all the meetings of this initiative since its inception, as it contributed to providing the working team to implement this tool with its views, which had a great impact on improving the level of the tool. The agency’s commitment to contributing to highlighting the name of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the space sector by developing comprehensive and influential space political frameworks that are in line with the needs of countries in the field of space worldwide, and to build partnerships to exchange experiences in the field of space.
It is worth noting that since October 2024, the tool has undergone a continuous development process through a series of workshops and consulting meetings in which more than 36 participants from 19 countries, represented governments, space agencies, industry, academic circles and civil society. This participatory approach helped to ensure stakeholders’ participation and gradual improvements to the tool, and the tool is scheduled to be officially launched in September 2025.
