The art of management .. “absent” for some!

Yesterday I received a call from an official on an important and vital sector. It was not for a request for clarification, or discussion of a political or social matter as usual. The topic was different, he called me commenting on an article that I wrote about the importance of building confidence between the leader and his employees, and that the smart leadership is not made with fear, but with confidence, and does not practice the transcendence, but with role model and knowledge.

The connection was for me a deep meaning. When you find an official who reads, cares and assures the administrative proposals that rise to the concept of leadership and developing performance, you feel that there are those who still believe that the administration is not just a position, but a message.

Administration is essentially art, and the art of human management in particular requires a deep awareness of the nature of the people, their needs and aspirations. Whoever believes that the administration is to issue orders behind the luxury offices, or that it is a social merit and a position of position, it has not yet understood the administration.

The real official does not make barriers, but rather builds bridges, does not raise his voice, but rather opens his ear, does not impose his authority, but sows confidence in the hearts of his team.

The employees do not need those who wave them with fear and punishment, but rather to those who extend their hand to them in support and direction. The team is not built with dry instructions, but rather by containment, knowledge and a living example.

The leader who knows the details of the work, and understands the nature of each administration and tasks of every employee, is the one who respects everyone, because it is simply their reference and their role.

On the other hand, there are officials who only see in their position the sparkle of the Prestige. He surrounds himself with secretarial crews, and deals with work as if it is a burden on those under it, and not a responsibility to pay it first.

The proposals are launched, and the employees are expected to be implemented by any means, at a time when he himself cannot understand the mechanism of its implementation!

Real leadership requires indulging in work details, good listening, constant knowledge, and keenness to develop. The smart official does not see the chair as a privilege, but rather a responsibility.

Employees do not see implementation tools, but rather partners in success. He learns from them as he teaches them, and helps them as expected from them.

I know a senior official who works in a high position, whose daily work exceeds 12 hours, without noise or media tuning.

He works from his office, from his home, even on holidays. Unemployment is not known, because it simply feels the size of the trust he holds.

His employees know his effort, and his superiors sometimes are surprised by his energy. He decided to be on the essence of responsibility, not on the surface, to be an example, not a picture, and this is what we miss a lot today.
