The Syrian Minister of Agriculture, Amjad Badr, confirmed today, Saturday, that the investigations are continuing to find out the reasons behind the fires of Latakia countryside, which will continue for the twelfth day in a row.
The minister added that there is no evidence yet that the fires are fabricated, amid the continued efforts to control them, with Arab and international support, according to what was reported by the “Syrian news.”
He pointed out that the scarcity of rain, and the non -rational use of water, caused a drought in Syria, stressing that the ousted system left a heavy legacy of corruption, which needs time to implement the necessary reforms.
Fires in Syria
The Syrian firefighting teams and the Arab units supporting them continue their intensive efforts in dealing with the forest fires in the areas of Jabal Al -Nisr, Zahia Tower, Al -Baraka, Sheikh Hassan, and the vicinity of Naba Al -Murr in the countryside of Latakia.
During the hours of last night, the teams managed to control several fire foci on the Road of Qastal Ma’af – Kassab, despite the field challenges they faced, foremost of which was the explosion of war waste in the region.
The Lattakia Governorate has been witnessing, since the third of July, huge warnings that led to the damage of more than 15,000 hectares, amid intense efforts made by firefighting teams to control them.
Earlier today, Qatari firefighting teams, consisting of Hawamat, cars, and human cadres, went to Lattakia countryside to participate in efforts to put out fires, along with the Turkish and Jordanian teams, and the supportive teams of institutions.
