The Syrian government forces announced, on Tuesday, the imposition of a comprehensive curfew in the city of As -Suwayda, “until another notice”, in the wake of bloody clashes that resulted in the death of about 100 people in two days of armed confrontations.

The Ministry of Interior stated that government forces will start entering the city of As -Suwayda, where the Commander of the Internal Security in the governorate, Brigadier Ahmed Al -Dalati, said: “The forces of the Ministry of Interior and Defense will start entering the center of the city of As -Suwayda,” coinciding with the imposition of a curfew in all the city’s streets without specifying an appointment to end it.
The spiritual presidency of the Druze welcomes and calls for cooperation
In a supportive position of government move, the spiritual presidency of the Druze community welcomed the entry of state forces to the city, asking the armed factions not to resist this entry, handing their weapons to the Ministry of Interior, and opening a dialogue with the government to treat security and social repercussions.
Renew the clashes in the vicinity of Kanker
In parallel, local media reported the renewed armed clashes in the vicinity of the village of Kanakar, west of As -Suwayda, on Tuesday morning, which reflects the continued tension despite the security measures.
Foreign Minister: The weapon for the state only
For his part, the Syrian Foreign Minister, Asaad Al -Shaibani, stressed that “carrying weapons is the responsibility of the state alone,” adding that Syria is on its way to restore its regional and international position. He also rejected any external interference in the affairs of the country, saying: “No one is authorized to interfere in our internal affairs.”

The Syrian Ministry of Defense revealed the killing of 18 members of the army as a result of attacks by armed groups in the city of As -Suwayda, while the ministry paid additional military units to the outskirts of the city to enhance the security deployment and contain escalating tensions.

The Ministry of Interior indicated the kidnapping of a number of security personnel during the deployment in the city, while the Syrian television quoted its sources that a “outlawed” group attacked the army units deployed to break the clashes, which led to the deaths and injuries among the soldiers.

The Ministry of Interior confirmed, in an official statement published through the “X” platform, that the bloody clashes erupted between local armed groups and clans in the Al -Muqawas neighborhood, noting that the escalation came as a result of the absence of state institutions in the region, which led to an exacerbation of chaos and a direct threat to civil peace.
A military action to impose security and refer those who caused the judiciary
In an attempt to control the situation, the Ministry of Interior announced that its forces, in coordination with the Ministry of Defense, will begin direct intervention to resolve the conflict, pursue those causing the events and transfer them to the competent judiciary.

The impact of tensions to the neighboring Daraa governorate extended, where the Internal Security Forces implemented a security spread on the administrative borders between Daraa and As -Suwayda, according to the Syrian News Agency “SANA”, with the aim of containing any possible extension of the security escalation.
