The Iraqi Integrity Commission announced the arrest of a responsible, hidden for years, condemning about 160 million dollars in Basra Governorate.
The commission said, in a statement, that the fleeing convicted convicting, Ibtisam Kamel Nasser, former director of the Agricultural Bank branch in Maysan Governorate, southeast of the country, was arrested after the issuance of absence sentences against her to 37 years in prison, on charges related to embezzlement and wasting public money in amounts approaching a quarter of an Iraqi dinar.
She added that “the process of arresting the condemnation was carried out in coordination with the informative hawk cell, as the operation took place in the Al -Zubayr district in Basra Governorate, after it was gathered from view for several years.”
The statement indicated that “the judiciary had issued several sentences against Nasser in absentia under Article (316) of the Iraqi Penal Code, which punishes the crimes of embezzlement and intentional damage to public money.”
According to the official statement, the total money that the court decided to recover from the condemnation in complete cases amounted to more than 211 billion Iraqi dinars, equivalent to about 160 million US dollars, while 10 other cases are still under investigation.
The authority indicated that these provisions were issued based on “peremptory evidence and legal evidence” confirming the condemnation of financial manipulations during its management of the Agricultural Bank in Maysan Governorate.
