In one of the most dangerous cases of espionage that Israel witnessed years ago, shocking details of an Iranian Jew who were accused of spying in favor of the Iranian enemy, in a betrayal described as unprecedented in its depth and critical timing.
The man whose name was banned for security reasons, immigrated from Iran to Israel in 1999, and settled in it as an ordinary citizen, before turning – as the indictment was revealed – a link directly with Iranian intelligence, at a sensitive time interspersed with bloody wars in Gaza and a dangerous escalation with Tehran.
The Israeli public prosecutor revealed that the accused had a long -term emotional relationship with an Iranian woman residing inside Iran, which the Iranians used to recruit and link him to the intelligence service.
In 2024, he met her in Türkiye, where she was waiting for a surprise: a direct meeting with Iranian officers, during which he revealed sensitive information, including an Iranian seas identity working on an oil tanker and suspected of his cooperation with Israel.
Israeli betrayal
However, treason did not stop here, according to the indictment, the accused provided accurate information about possible Israeli offensive plans against targets in Iran, and leaked sensitive details about the paths of Israeli drones, and even reported direct injuries in one of the Israeli Air Force bases as a result of an Iranian counter -attack.
A crime that is still under trial is a precedent in terms of the confidence granted to this person, and the danger that his penetration represented.
While the Israeli security services are silent about many details, the size of the leak is deeply concerned within the security and military institutions in Israel, especially in light of the open war with Tehran and its arms in the region.
The issue of this spy may change the rules of play between Israel and Iran, and re -evaluate the system of trust within the Israeli security community, at a time when the fronts are no longer drawn only with weapons, but by information, dual loyalties, and asleep agents.
