The Chairman of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee in the House of Representatives, Ahmed Al -Salloum, stressed that the visit of the Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun to Bahrain, and the high -level meetings, on top of which is his meeting with His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, represents an important turning point in the path of Bahraini -Lebanese relations, especially in its economic and investment part.
He explained that the historical announcement of His Majesty the King of the Reopening of a Permanent Diplomatic Mission for Bahrain in Beirut reflects a clear political eagerness to consolidate confidence and the resumption of institutional communication between the two countries, which would prepare the appropriate environment for a new start in terms of economic and commercial cooperation.
Al -Salloum pointed out that the joint closing statement of the visit includes direct references to the importance of developing cooperation in the economic, commercial, investment and social fields, including supporting the role of the private sector, activating the agreements and existing understanding notes, increasing trade exchange, and intensifying mutual visits to economic delegations.
He added that these items reflect a mutual awareness of the volume of promising opportunities that can contribute to achieving a qualitative shift for economic relations between the two countries.
The Chairman of the Committee affirmed that Bahrain is looking at Lebanon as an economic partner with a long history of positive interaction with the Bahraini environment, through distinguished Lebanese cadres in the sectors of health, education, media and the financial sector, while Bahrain can be an ideal platform for Lebanese investments wishing to enter the Gulf and region markets, especially in the fields of financial technology, logistical services, medical tourism, and higher education.
He called for the activation of the Bahraini -Lebanese joint committee, as stated in the speech of His Majesty the King, to be a practical framework for a clear economic road map, which includes reviewing memoranda of understanding and expanding areas of cooperation, especially in light of the global economy transformations, and the need of the two countries to diversify the sources of growth and create development partnerships based on the exchange of benefits.
Al -Salloum praised the clear Bahraini statement of the closing statement of the stability of Lebanon and its sovereignty and the strengthening of its national unity, stressing that political and security stability represents a basic condition for restoring economic vitality, which clearly expressed the position of the Kingdom of Bahrain, which combines fraternal support and the call to balance and development.
He said: “We are facing a real opportunity to renew economic cooperation between Bahrain and Lebanon, in a framework of confidence and common vision, and to build on the political will that was evident during the historical visit of the Lebanese President. The House of Representatives, in his various committees, must be supportive and process of any efforts that enhance national interests and open new horizons for partnership and integration with brothers in Lebanon.”
