“2025 OW” asteroid passes behind the moon
Astronomers monitored a huge asteroid equivalent to the bound size of Pisa Tower, expected to pass near Earth on Monday, July 28, according to the US space agency NASA. Its length is about 210 feet (the equivalent of a 15 -storey building), which raises fears of its danger.
The expected distance for its passage is estimated at 393 thousand miles from the Earth, that is, behind the moon, where the moon revolves 239 thousand miles. This distance is relatively close according to the classification of astronomers.
The largest in a group of asteroids
According to a report by the British newspaper “Daily Mail”, the asteroid (2025 OW) is the largest among five asteroids that will pass near the Earth during the next week. Two of them will range between 100 and 200 feet and Simran with a distance of more than one million miles, while another smaller asteroid will pass later.
The asteroid moves at a speed of approximately 47 thousand miles per hour, which is a medium speed compared to other asteroids such as “2024 MK” and “Aboves 99942”.
No risk currently .. but there are warnings
Although NASA confirmed that there is no danger from the asteroid collision (2025 OW) today, it warned that asteroids of this size may cause structural damage or shattering windows if she enters the atmosphere over populated areas.
Astronomers classify it among small to medium asteroids, and these asteroids often explode in the atmosphere due to heating and pressure resulting from their entry at high speeds.

NASA uses advanced systems such as the Earth’s body studies center (CNEOS) and ground radar telescopes such as “Goldstone Radio”, to follow up asteroid paths and calculate their collision. The agency confirms that its accounts are accurate, which reduces the possibility of a collision.
