Referring to what was circulated, a little while ago, on various social media sites about a fire in the Sofitel Al Jazeera Hotel in Cairo, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities confirms that this fire was very limited and erupted as a result of throwing a cigarette operating on an area of the industrial success in it, which led to the speed of fire in a limited part of the mezzanine, especially with the high temperature of the weather, which resulted in the escalation of thick smoke.
The ministry clarified that this fire was dealt with immediately through the firefighting team in the hotel and was controlled and completely extinguished in a short time within 7 minutes of its outbreak, without causing any losses in lives or injuries, whether in guests or workers, and did not result in any material damage to the hotel buildings or its contents.
The ministry confirms that work in the hotel is going naturally and that the safety of guests and workers was not affected in any way.
It also confirms its constant keenness on the continuous follow -up of the extent of the commitment of hotel and tourism facilities to apply safety and security and prevent the dangers of fire in accordance with the criteria approved by the competent authorities in this regard and in a way that ensures the provision of safe and high -quality tourism services, in order to preserve the safety of guests, workers and visitors and ensure the quality of tourism services they receive, which comes at the top of the ministry’s priorities.
The Central Administration of Hotel Facilities, Mahalla and Tourist Activities, as soon as she learned of this incident through its periodic follow -up, verified the incident and immediate communication with the hotel management to clarify the fire situation and check on the hotel’s operating position and the health and safety of guests and its employees.
The relevant security authorities, represented by the Tourism and Antiquities Police, the Palace of the Nile Police Department, and the Zamalek Insurance Department, also examined the hotel’s location, identifying the circumstances of the incident and taking the necessary measures.
