In a new achievement that reflects the Ministry of Health’s keenness to continue to enhance the quality of laboratory services and establish their position within international health networks, the National Plumination Center of Public Health Laborators obtained a certificate of completion of the external quality assessment of the detection of influenza viruses and the Corona virus (Kovid-19), issued by the World Health Organization, achieving the final degree for the twelfth year in a row since 2013.

This achievement comes as an affirmation of the pioneering position of the Kingdom of Bahrain within a network that monitors the acute respiratory infection of the eastern Mediterranean region, and the Kingdom’s continuous commitment to sharing data with international reference centers according to the highest technical and laboratory standards.

On this occasion, Dr. Samia Ali Bahram, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health at the Ministry of Health, affirmed that this international accreditation reflects the efficiency of national cadres in monitoring and analyzing respiratory viruses accurately and professionally, and demonstrates the readiness of the national health system for the quick response to health and epidemics.

For her part, Mrs. Amjad Al -Ghanem, head of public health laboratories at the Ministry of Health, pointed to the ongoing efforts of the technical and administrative team at the center, stressing that this continuous excellence in international assessments enhances the development of national monitoring programs, and the progress made by the Kingdom of Bahrain in addressing infectious diseases at the regional and international levels is highlighted.
